A Wedding Dress For Your Dream Wedding

AHHHH its finally your day!!! You know that day you have dreamed of since you were a little girl. Remember playing make believe & putting on a pretty princess dress, your moms’ heels (that were 10 sizes too big), & a string of pearls! Twirling around in the living room to a wedding song or dancing while standing on your daddy’s shoes! You have probably dreamed of your wedding your whole life. And now you are finally picking out YOUR WEDDING DRESS!!!

Get excited because “THE ONE” is waiting for you in some boutique, at some bridal shop around the corner, or is being custom made just for you! I could not be happier for you & I am cheering for you over here as you search for that special dress! Some brides wonder how will they know when they find the perfect dress? Trust me you will just know! That’s what people told me when I was searching for a wedding dress 7 years ago & from my experience they were right!

I went to 3 different bridal boutiques & tried on several dresses & finally at the last shop I found “THE ONE.” I knew immediately after I put on the dress & looked at myself in the mirror that this was my wedding dress! I walked out of the changing room grinning ear to ear because I knew this was it & the search was over! Fun fact, my mother-in-law went with me to pick out dresses & she picked a dress I would later call MY WEDDING DRESS, because she thought I might like it & guess what she was so right I totally loved it!

A couple of things to keep in mind when picking your wedding dress is to consider:

  1. What style of dress? There are so many endless beautiful options out there! I love seeing all the different styles at all the weddings I shoot! My brides have such wonderful taste & I love photographing them in their wedding dress!
  2. What type of dress will flatter your body? Pinterest has several resources out there regarding body shape & style.
  3. Color? White, ivory, other?
  4. Train or no Train? While I love all styles of wedding dresses, can I just say a train on your wedding dress weather big or small makes your entire gown look more luxurious & princess like!
  5. If you are wearing a veil what type would look good with the dress you pick out? Try some on while you are there.
  6. Wedding dress ideas-wedding blogs like Style Me Prettyhas some great ideas for wedding dresses & wedding inspiration in general.
  7. If it needs to be taken in or hemmed remember to pick out your wedding shoes before you have it hemmed at the bottom.
  8. Have one of your bridesmaids learn how to bustle your dress.
  9. Just have a blast shopping for your dress! Make a fun day or weekend of it!
  10. After you select your dress, before the wedding do a trial run of getting into your wedding dress & make sure you have all appropriate accessories for your dress such as a bra, undies, belts or sashes, & other undergarments specific to your dress. Also, it doesn’t hurt to practice sitting down in your dress while you have it on to see what the best approach is. Some brides find it easiest to raise the dress up a little over your hips to the looser bottom section then try sitting down.

Some of my favorite trending wedding dress designers include: Miss Hayley Paige(website), Miss Hayley Paige(Instagram), Pronovias, & Maggie Sottero

This is such a fun & exciting time for you & I can’t wait to hear you say “Yes to the dress!” Best of luck as you search for that special dress to wear as you marry the love of your life! Just remember not to worry it’s out there & you will find it! Soak up this moment & enjoy this season of wedding planning & engagement!
